Foreign Travel Immunizations

If you plan on traveling outside the United States, you should prepare as
early as possible. Visit your health care provider at least 6 weeks prior
to travel. Many vaccines take time to become effective in your body
and some vaccines must be given in a series over a period of days
or sometimes weeks. If it is less than 4 weeks before you leave,
you should still see your doctor. It might not be too late to get your shots
or medications and other information about how to protect yourself
from illness and injury while traveling.

Be aware of the diseases that are common in the country that you will be
visiting. Know how they are transmitted and how to prevent them.
