We strive for improved quality of life for all individuals in Ashland County by promoting health, helping to prevent disease and injury, and respond to public and environmental health concerns.

 

Vision Statement:

 

We strive to promote a healthier community by immunizing against diseases, protecting the environment and serving as a source of credible information for better health.

 

Summary of Strategic Goals:  

  1. Ensure community protection through our regular immunization program.
  2. Improve community awareness of wellness services available at the health department through the ODH Bureau of Early Intervention Services Program, ODH Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, ODH Bureau of Children with Medical Handicaps Program and comprehensive public health nurse assessment (physical and environmental).
  3. Ensure community protection in response to public health emergencies through immunization, antibiotic administration, public health surveillance, and health education.
  4. Maintain epidemiological surveillance and investigation efforts.
  5. Achieve and maintain quality state-mandated environmental health inspections.
  6. Continue to embrace the National Incident Management System (NIMS) to assure compliance through planning, training and exercise.
  7. Improve planning, training and exercise efforts in order to respond to the current and future health needs of our citizens.
  8. Identify and measure risks prior to incidents and large public events in Ashland County.
  9. Enhance and maintain multiple types of communications systems.
  10. Provide community education on prevention, protection and recovery from all public health hazards and threats.
  11. Provide guidance on infection control practices regarding Isolation and Quarantine.
  12. Provide the residents of Ashland County effective Emergency Public Health Information and Warning.
