Household Sewage Systems
Sewage System Installation Season is April 15 - November 15
Weather permitting, installations MAY continue after consulting with this division.
The Household Sewage Treatment System Program assures that installation of all new or replacement household sewage treatment systems are performed under permit and in accordance with local and state requirements. Proper installation of systems helps prevent contamination of groundwater supplies and reduces the incidence of sewage-related nuisances.
The program staff reviews plans for the installation of new and replacement sewage treatment systems and assures that they are installed under a permit issued by the County Health District and by a contractor registered to perform such work.
Completed installations are inspected for compliance with approved plans before the system is approved. Contractors who install treatment systems or that "clean" sewage tanks must be registered with the County Health District to perform such work.
The Environmental Health Division responds to written public health nuisance complaints regarding systems that are discharging odorous, grey or black wastewater.
