The Ashland County Health Department would like to welcome Heather Reffett as our new Health Commissioner. Heather comes to us as an accomplished public servant with a love of learning, a joyful nature and honed leadership skills. She enjoys problem-solving, collaborating and developing the talents of others.

Heather graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science in 1998. In 2003, she became a Certified Public Manager-Program for Excellence in Municipal Management from George Washington University. In 2006 she graduated from George Mason University with a Master of Public Education with a concentration in Local and State Government.
Ms. Reffett has received many awards, most notably the Certificate of Excellence for Distinguished DC Government Employees and the Above and Beyond Employee Award from the DC Department of Health.
Her experience in Public Health Accreditation includes being an Accreditation Site Visitor for PHAB. She also has training in Quality Improvement, has made presentations in Community Health Improvement Plans, Strategic Plans and QI plans, in additional to Health Reform and Building Performance Management Systems.
We are excited to have Heather as our new leader and look forward to her walking us through the Accreditation process.
